The interior style tool every home owner needs to try before redecorating
One of our favourite interior stylists is Emily Henderson, and anyone who reads the blog regularly will already know that. But what you might not know is that Emily’s book STYLED contains some really helpful information on finding your style identity. What is a style identity you ask? It’s a summary or a label of sorts to your interior style as reflected by your personality. Interestingly, a lot of people who have taken the quiz (which you can do by clicking here or by reading the book) believe that it’s not accurate. The thing is, it assesses what your style is based on your personality – but so many of us are living in houses we don’t love because we follow trends, not our hearts.
So that is why I believe a lot of people weren’t that pleased with the answers. But, quiz aside, the quiz results can be used to map out our interior design style and more importantly, understand how to integrate other styles with our core style.
The Style Wheel is a concept that Emily developed (bless her) that helps us find out style’s buddy, the complimentary look for our core style personality and we have used it so many times over here at Dddreamhouse HQ. Every time we receive a question about styling or interiors we consult the wheel, because too often people feel that a) they don’t have a style or b) their homes have too much of one style and they want to freshen things up. So all you do is find your style on the wheel and it's opposite style is your best bet at complimentary design!
So by taking the quiz and using the wheel, you can easily find your complimentary style. Remember, the quiz is about finding your style personality and might not reflect what your home looks like right now, but sleep on it, think about it and tell us if that’s a home design you’d love to live in.
