The bathroom trends to consider for your next renovation
The bathroom is one of the spaces inside the home that can make or break the house when it comes to design and functionality. This is why getting your bathroom design right is so important. Bathroom trends are constantly changing and it can be hard to freshen up the bathroom to keep with the times. However, we were lucky enough to get some expert insight into the trends taking over bathrooms in 2017 thanks to the wonderful Rob Sinclair from e&s – the company that knows more about the kitchen, laundry and bathroom than most of us combined!
Rob recently returned from the world’s biggest bathroom fair, ISH Messe in Germany and his advice to bathroom renovators is below!
The next big bathroom trends are…
Earthly palettes, soft pastels and muted shades of greys, greens, blues.
The trend is growing towards natural, matte finishes on fixtures and fittings offering a raw, industrial and old-world look. Suppliers are adapting the PVD finish to guarantee durability and sustainability, starting with stainless steel and depositing layers of colours to replicate copper and brass looks. Gessi offered more than 20 different types of these finishes to choose from which demonstrates this look will be here to stay.
We will see basins and tapware - both the base and spouts - treated with a kind of three-dimensional effect or structure on its surface. This includes dimples (like a golf ball), pimples and other 3-D shapes.
The rise in technology around creating ceramics means suppliers are creating these beautiful refined fine edges and rims on basins. This is a look we'll be seeing a lot more of.
When it comes to the bathroom, we’re seeing people wanting to create luxurious spaces for relaxation and escapism. Bathrooms are becoming a spa and wellness retreat in their own right, with people investing in things like rain showers and tapware with beautiful finishes, that are not only functional but create a sense of luxe in the bathroom.
